Universal Spirit will hold the 2013 Spirit of Hope National Championship on January 19-20, 2013 at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, NC.

This is a two day National Cheerleading and Dance Competition offering your teams, and individuals, an affordable opportunity to compete and win. Come see first hand, the Universal Spirit philosophy of providing innovative and creative competitions that promote a positive experience for everyone involved.

The 2013 "Spirit of Hope" Cheerleading and Dance National Championship will take place at the 850,000 square foot Charlotte Convention Center. The Charlotte Convention Center, built in 1995, is in the center of Charlotte and within walking distance of 4,100 hotel rooms. General Competition Schedule: A general schedule will be posted in the days leading up to the Spirit of Hope National Championship.


Awards Schedule: A Spirit of Hope National Championship Awards schedule will be posted in the days leading up to the event.


Detailed Performance Schedule: A detailed performance schedule will be released directly to our official contact with each team in the days leading up to the competition. Spectators and team members please contact your teams coach to get specific performance times for your team.

Additional Information

Floors: Universal Spirit utilizes the state-of-the-art AAI ELITE™ Power Cheer Floor for our cheer teams and a 40' x 40' Harlequin® dance floor for our dance teams.

Warm-up: All cheer teams will have an opportunity to warm up prior to their event. The cheer warm up room features four 54ft. X 42ft. foam floors, four 12ft. X 72ft. spring floor tumble strips, four 18ft. X 42ft. practice areas, four 6ft. X 42ft. stretching areas and two 44ft. X 56ft. spring floors. In addition, the warmup room is available on Friday night for additional practice time. To sign up for Friday night time slots, please contact the office.


The dance warm up area features two 38ft X 38 ft. marked areas for dance teams to warmup their routine and fine tune their formations and transitions.

Spotters: Universal Spirit recognizes that many coaches would prefer that the spotters remain off of the competition surface during their teams performance so the decision to have spotters on the floor during the routine is completely up to each individual team. Universal Spirit does not provide spotters at our National Championship. Clearly, we could never prepare for the precise choreography and timing of each routine. Therefore, teams are encouraged to provide their own spotters.


All competitors will receive an official 2013 Spirit of Hope medal.


Every team that attends the Universal Spirit Cheerleading Nationals will receive a trophy.


The Champion in each division will receive a National Champion trophy and banner. Additionally, each member of National Champion teams, and two coaches, will receive additional prize(s).

  • 10 Cheer Bids (5 Partial Paid, 5 At-Large)
  • 3 Dance Bids (1 Partial Paid, 2 At-Large)

All-Levels Championship:

ialclogo2As a Founding Member of the All-Levels Championship, Universal Spirit is able to offer teams that compete in certain divisions at our Nationals bids to the All-Levels Championship.


Pricing Information

Competitors: The registration and payment deadline is November 15th. Any registrations not paid in full by this date will be accessed a late fee as described in the fee table to your right.


NOTE: Teams must be registered AND paid by November 15th in order to participate in the team meeting room raffle. Winners of the team meeting room raffle will be given the opportunity to have a dedicated private meeting room at the convention center over Nationals weekend.


Coaches: A team may bring up to two coaches for free. Additional coaches passes may be purchased for $xx.xx.


Spectators: Spectator admission bracelets and nationals programs are available for purchase in the main admissions hall on Saturday and Sunday.


Division Changes

The division change deadline is December 8th. Division change requests can be made at no cost on or before this date. Any division change requests submitted after that date will be made at the discretion of Universal Spirit and will be accessed a division change fee as described in the fee table to your right. No division change requests will be accepted after January 1, 2013.

NOTE: All division change requests must be made in writing and submitted via US Mail to the Universal Spirit offices by the deadlines listed in the fee table above.
